Biography

Background

Christopher G. ("Chris") Paulos is the Founder and Managing Attorney of Paulos Law, P.A. Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California in 2000, completing a dual major in Cinema/Television and Communication Arts and Sciences with an emphasis in Argumentation and Advocacy. He received his Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, in 2010.

Film Industry Career

Before becoming an attorney, Chris built a successful career in the film industry, working in Los Angeles with leading music video and commercial production companies, and later with A Band Apart Films, the production company founded by Quentin Tarantino and Lawrence Bender. Drawn back to his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah, Chris helped launch and manage Spy Hop Productions, a nonprofit organization that provides media education and creative opportunities to underserved and at-risk youth. There, he developed a nationally recognized youth film studies curriculum and produced several award-winning independent films and commercial projects. His experience navigating complex licensing, contract, and creative disputes in film production sparked a deep interest in law. Determined to better understand and advocate within those systems, he returned to California to pursue his legal education.

Law School

While in law school, Chris distinguished himself early on. He was elected a Student Bar Association Representative in his first year and later served as President of both the Student Bar Association and the Entertainment Law Society. He was also a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and the Mock Trial Team, competing nationally in cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, criminal law, and intellectual property disputes. Through mock trial competition, Chris discovered his passion for courtroom advocacy. Mentored by some of San Diego's most respected trial lawyers, he learned to build compelling cases grounded in evidence and human storytelling—skills that would define his practice in years to come.

Early Legal Career

Chris clerked for the San Diego County Office of the Public Defender, working with both misdemeanor and felony trial departments on cases involving violent and nonviolent crimes, financial misconduct, and drug trafficking. He later joined private criminal defense firms in San Diego, assisting in cases that included international discovery disputes, offshore gaming regulation, high-intensity drug trafficking, healthcare fraud, and professional malpractice. During this period, he also served as a mentor to law students through his role on the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Alumni Board of Directors, supporting the next generation of trial advocates.

Mass Torts & Complex Civil Litigation

In 2009, Chris met Mike Papantonio, a Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame inductee, and was introduced to the field of mass torts and complex civil litigation. In 2011, Chris joined the Levin Papantonio law firm where he spent fifteen years as an attorney and later as a partner. His practice included pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, environmental contamination cases, catastrophic personal injury, whistleblower (qui tam) actions, and anti-terrorism litigation. He played key roles in major multidistrict litigations (MDLs), including Yaz/Yasmin, NuvaRing, GranuFlo/NaturaLyte, Zimmer NexGen, Abilify, and Depo-Provera. Chris also served on trial and discovery teams in landmark cases such as Sims v. Bayer (Yaz bellwether trial) and the first four DuPont/C-8 bellwether trials. In addition, Chris helped develop and manage litigation teams addressing injuries from defective products and toxic exposures, including Chinese drywall, Actos, DePuy ASR hip implants, 3M Combat Earplugs, and PFAS ("forever chemical") contamination.

Terrorism Litigation

Chris also led a dedicated litigation group representing victims of terrorism and their families. His team has pursued cases against the financial, corporate, and governmental networks that support acts of international terrorism—holding accountable banks, oil companies, and state sponsors of terrorism. Their work has resulted in final judgments totaling more than $1.84 billion on behalf of victims and their loved ones.

Founding Paulos Law, P.A.

In 2025, Chris founded Paulos Law, P.A., joined by members of his long-time litigation team. The firm continues his mission: seeking justice and accountability for victims of terrorism, catastrophic injury, and human rights abuses. Rooted in the values of courage, integrity, and service, Paulos Law, P.A. provides every client with the same commitment that has defined Chris's career—strategic, relentless advocacy guided by compassion and principle.
